White-faced Ibis on Oliver Road (Winnebago Co)
Posted by Dan Williams under Bird Sightings , Rare Birds[5] Comments
Yesterday during the spring bird count, Barbara found a White-faced Ibis in breeding plumage in a small fluddle on the south side of Oliver Road, west of Harrison Road. It is a really jazzy looking bird. It was still present today. More specific directions are posted on IBET.

Took us twice before we were able to find this bird; first, went out on Saturday about 1:30 pm and were not able to locate it thought that it was already gone. Then Phil Doncheck told us that he saw the bird both Saturday night and Sunday morning, so after Bird Fest yesterday, Lee Johnson, Carol and I headed out again and found this spectacular bird in its beautiful plummage. I ran home, got the large lens, went back around 6:00 pm and was successful in re-finding it and took numerous pictures of this bird, in the pond just off Oliver Road, which I will post later.

Curiously, I went to this spot on April 1st, 2011 around 11 a.m. and spotted this bird immediately, it flew right in front of me. It was a cool sight to see. I have been back 4 times since and have had no luck.
