Christmas counts are held throughout the Americas during a three week period around the Christmas holidays. The same circles of fifteen miles in diameter are surveyed each year, counting all the birds that can be detected within the circle.
Normally we have 25 to 40 counters in each circle but we are always happy to have more volunteers.
The Rockford count will be held on Dec. 19. To volunteer for the count contact Dan Williams at email@example.com.
The Kishwaukee count will be on Dec. 26. To help with that count contact Barbara Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We set up all the areas to be covered by specific teams of birders in advance or the counts. If you’d like to help out, let us know and join the fun!
