Thanks, Dan. I think that is the location. I'll make a sidetrip there on my way back to Chicago this week, and see what else there is to see.

Annette,
I'm not sure exactly what pond you mean because there are several in that area. But, if you took the exit for Springfield Rd., crossed back over US 20, and then came to the pond just north of where the road turns left, that is called Nieman pond. There have been 20-30 pelicans there, off and on, for a few weeks now. There is another pond further west on 20, on the N side of the road, but I don't know it's name.

I regularly drive from Chicago to Dubuque. This afternoon I finally stopped on Rt 20, about 2 miles east of Rt 75 (near Freeport) to check out the large white birds on a pond (or lake) north of the road (under some tall power lines/towers). Sure enough, about 30 American Pelicans. Can you tell me what this pond is called?
Thanks!

Hello: It is good that a Cerulean Warbler was seen. The problem that I have is the post is by Steviegee. Who is this? Is this Steve Vee? People who post should identify themselves.

At least 2, possibly 3, Y-t Warblers at Sugar River FP this morning.
Beware of a Chipping Sparrow that sounds just like a Pine Warbler.

Hi Thanks for the enquiry about the Snowy Owl. The last time the location of the owl was released it got harassed by some photographers and moved . It has relocated, and seems to be happy where it is because of not being disturbed. Regretfully the bird is on private land and so is not accessible to the general public.
